Providing Towards Earthquake Victims

Along the streets of Osaka and Kyoto, there are Japanese supporting and asking for donations for the Sichuan, China.

Today, there are still news of aftershocks in the Sichuan province where we came back. Its a blessing to be out of the area for us.

But seeing more news of aftershocks shattering the homes of the Chinese people, is worrying, many beautiful places are being ruined by mother nature.

I'm extremely touched by Sim and Maki's guesture. They have a big guesthouse and it is offered to the Volunteers who are in Chengdu to help out at the disaster-struck area.

Check for updates here.

Mian Xian and local unity in rescue efforts

Stopping at a side road store for lunch enroute to Dong Hu (East Lake) at the south of Chengdu City on our trusty bicycles. We had beef mian xian which was actually, our local chu mi fen (laksa type). In Si Chuan, that is mian xian. Weipeng had Fei Chang mian xian (Pork innards).

Everyone doing their part for the victims of the earthquake. It is truly heart warming to see the strong display of unity among the people of China. Many individuals have taken to sticking banners on the bonnets of their cars which reads "Kang Zheng Jiu Zhai", Unite against the earthquake and assist all the victims of this crisis". Many stores have sold out of mineral water and instant noodles. And shelves in supermarkets seem emptier than normal. Fund raising is carried out by many companies, hotels and individuals grouping together to send aid to the areas hit. Now on the 3rd day of the quake, life has mostly resumed to it's normal beat with most eateries, shopping centres and businesses operating as usual. Every hour or so, many ambulances and police cars on high alert swoosh by, reminding us of the ongoing rescue efforts.
