Aftermath of Earthquake: 3rd Day

We are in the heart of a disaster area, and it is really saddening watching the news. The news are of rescues and updates on where the government had set up for emergency areas for the disaster struck civilians.

On this 3rd day, civilians in Chengdu still choose to sleep on the streets, in the open areas. Some are having dinner, others are playing mahjong. They have makeshift beds on the streets and bottled mineral water are being snapped up from the local stores. There will be minor tremors in Chengdu estimated between 3-5am, 15 may 2008.

Carparks have been transformed into emergency areas, makeshift hospitals for the injured. Airports and certain railway routes have restored operations.

Attached is a video on the civilians asking for donations on the streets (Chun Xi Lu), the main shopping area for the young and hip of Chengdu city.
